Year 8 enjoyed an educational visit to the exquisite, fully furnished, Georgian townhouse of Lord Fairfax, in York, this week. As prominent members of elite Georgian society, the Fairfaxes enjoyed a busy winter season of dining, the theatre, racing, shopping and the assembly rooms. In furthering their studies of what the Georgians did for us (tea, tobacco and trade), Year 8 have explored the role of primary evidence in shaping our understanding of this very important period in our history, with the expansion of trade and industry, the beginings of the Agricultural and Industrial revolutions, and the British empire.
Thank you to Mrs Bulmer for helping with the visit.
