On Tuesday 10th March, the year 7 hockey team travelled to Lady Lumley’s school to take part in the Whitby / Ryedale annual partnership hockey tournament. The tournament consisted of a group format with each team playing three matches, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals.

The girls played Caedmon in their first game, in which they created several chances to score but were unable to convert them. The game ended in a 0-0 draw. Next up were Ryedale “A” team who had just won a comfortable victory in their first match. This was a close game, with goalkeepers in both teams making some good saves with their feet. This also ended in a 0-0 draw.

Going into the final group game, the team was in second place knowing that a victory against Malton “B” team would secure a place in the semi-final. Malton started the brighter of the two sides but gradually Fyling Hall had some good play in the oppositions D which resulted in 2-0 victory.

Finishing as group runners up, the team now faced Malton “A” team who had won their group. This was a tough game, with Malton ending up with a 4-0 win. Our team played extremely well up to the semi-final game and can be pleased with their overall performance.
