On Wednesday 30th November, Year 7 students in Miss Rowland’s English class had fun bringing the character of Matron from Roald Dahl’s ‘Boy’ to life. The pupils are studying autobiographical writing and have written short extracts from their own autobiographies too. Pupils read sections from Roald Dahl’s ‘Boy’ which charts his boyhood and school life. All the students picked their favourite quotes from Matron, a ‘vicious ogre’ of a character who terrorises the boys at Dahl’s school. She seems to enjoy giving pupils the cane and getting them in trouble with the Headmaster. Pupils also enjoyed reading the description of matron, which they worked together to depict for display.
Having researched the character and gotten to know her all the students are glad that Matron Sutherland and Matron Stamp are nothing like this evil matron!
