On Friday 19th, Year 12 took part in a Fyling Hall “Next Steps” day, a course of sessions designed to prepare and provide guidance to our pupils as they start to think about their ‘next steps’ after A Levels. In the morning, the pupils listened to a talk given by Phil Gray, who is an international officer from York University, about preparing personal statements. Eloise, a current York University student, also gave our pupils a brief talk outlining what life could be like at University.
In the afternoon, Year 12 performed a variety of activities including drawing the ideal university student, researching courses and registering with UCAS. They also felt inspired to prepare a first draft for their personal statements. This session will be followed up by this Friday’s trip to Newcastle and Northumbria University’s Open Day.
Thank you to Ms Mitchell, Mrs Banks and our visiting speakers for helping to organise and facilitate the event.
