On Monday 21st November, year 10 and 11 drama pupils performed for a live audience for the first time this year.
Part of a week of performances including year 7-9 drama showbacks and a fantastic music concert, the GCSE groups performed pieces based on ‘DNA’ by Dennis Kelly. DNA is about a gang of pupils who find themselves in a series of tricky situations culminating in a decision to kill one of their best friends.
Year 10’s performance came together at the last minute but they were proud of the work they had achieved. Their piece was mostly scripted and used extracts from the play text.
Year 11 had created a mostly physical piece which used some extracts from the script.
Laura from year 10 said ‘I love how the music was incorporated into the powerful piece.’
Harry also year 10 was impressed with how the class used staging and levels to improve their piece.
Year 11 pupils were shocked to see how much of the script year 10 had learnt and were impressed with the detail the pupils had gone into.
Mrs Jeeves was pleased with the effort the pupils have put in and is excited to see what they will do next term at The Eskdale Festival.
