Hello! My name is Shane Henderson, and I will be working as a gap assistant at Fyling Hall in 2022. My main role during the week will be helping out in the Junior School and on the weekends I will be apart of the boarding team looking after our boarders.

Welcome Miss Henderson, our new Gap Student

I have come from regional New South Wales in Australia, about 6 hours west of Sydney – so I am used to living in rural areas, although in a far less hilly region. I have graduated from university in Australia with a bachelor’s degree in Oral Health Therapy – a very in demand profession in the UK so I have heard. I spent 2021 practising as an oral health therapist in Tamworth – the country music capital of Australia. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with friends and families particularly going out for dinner or to the movies, by myself I enjoy reading particularly historical fiction.

I am very excited to be in England this year and to be working with the staff and children at Fyling Hall. Whilst here I hope to explore the UK and hopefully some European countries as well. I have always wanted to live in the UK and am glad I get to experience life in rural England as the scenery is one of the main reasons I have always wanted to live in the UK along with having an interest in British history. I am looking forward to working as a gap assistant and the year ahead!
