On Wednesday the 4th October, the Year 9s visited the Wakefield coal mining museum on a Geography trip. They were given a tour underground by an ex-miner, who told them all about the rise and fall of the coal industry over the last 200 years. They went down a mine shaft over 400 metres below the surface, and later visited some pit ponies that are still cared for at the mine. They were all able to take home a piece of coal as a keepsake. Thanks go to Mrs Locker for driving and to Miss Anders who also accompanied them on the trip.
