When did you last think about the value of Pi? International Day of Mathematics, also known as Pi Day, is on 14th March, i.e. 3/14. As this falls on a Sunday this year, we celebrated this great day, as we always do at Fyling Hall, in school on Friday. Year 9s worked in smaller groups and substituted counters for real pies to calculate the value of Pi. They produced some excellent and accurate results.
It was great to see them back in the classroom and working together on a practical problem. As promised, we did stick with tradition and the pupils were all rewarded with an apple pie for their hard work.
