With term starting on Monday, 7th September, Fyling Hall’s Head Matron, Miss Anders, has been reaching out to the newest members of our Fyling Hall family.  Becoming part of a ‘boarding family’ can seem like a huge step into the unknown. At Fyling Hall we do our very best to make sure that the experience is happy and fulfilling. It is important to us that parents and each child and their parent(s)/carer(s) feel relaxed and secure.

Welcome to Boarding

In advance of students’ arrival at Fyling Hall, they are encouraged to take a look at our Welcome to Boarding. This is a great introduction to boarding life.

Arriving at school

Covid-Safe Charter

Fyling Hall is proud to adopt the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) Covid-Safe Charter. This is a voluntary code and aims to give confidence that boarding schools are following all appropriate measures to ensure that boarding is a safe environment for pupils. Part of these measures include the issuance of a Covid Safe Letter for Travel which is provided once travel details are confirmed.

Quarantine requirements

For those arriving in the UK from a country outside the common travel area, coronavirus regulations mean that these boarders must self-isolate for 14 days.

As you may know the UK government has introduced travel corridor exemptions for some countries and territories. A full list can be found on the UK Government website, and will be updated at regular intervals. Please check before travelling as to whether your country of origin (or any transit stop) is exempt. If unsure, please check with the school.

Those pupils who must quarantine, should ideally arrive on 23rd Aug (and not before 21st Aug) in order to have completed their two weeks in advance of school starting on 7th Sept. The two weeks will be invoiced at £600. Miss Gilmour, our Deputy Head (Pastoral), is managing our Quarantine policy. She can be reached on a.gilmour@fylinghall.org.
