On a very cold wintry afternoon, the under 14 boys football team made the short journey to Eskdale to play in the annual Whitby / Ryedale Partnership Football Tournament. The boys played 3, 20-minute matches in extremely wet and windy conditions! The opening match went Eskdale’s way losing 2-0. The second game we played against Caedmon College Whitby, this was a much more open contest, with the defence working hard to keep the quick counterattacks from Caedmon at bay. Eventually, though the team succumbed to a 3-1 loss.
In the final match against Malton, the boys showed a lot more determination and bravery when in possession of the ball. Alex Fusco made several searching runs into the opposition half to find Metuurunga Kavari who exquisitely found the bottom corner from 20 yards. This sparked a goal spree, At the other end, Harley George was in fine form making several great saves in goal, but eventually Malton equalised and took the lead, however the boys fought back and the game ended in a 3-3 draw. Although it was dreadful conditions the boys had a great time playing in the annual Whitby / Ryedale Partnership Football Tournament.
