On Sunday, Mrs Wormald took some of the Fyling Hall musicians down to the Spa Theatre café/bar for the monthly open mic afternoon.

In a very relaxed environment with similar minded musicians, both pupils and locals performed their own music to an appreciative and supportive audience.

The harmony group performed ‘Steal Away’ in 4 part harmony, followed by an arrangement of ‘Sweet Dreams’ by the Eurhythmics with a cello accompaniment from Matthias Fiedler.

After this, George Ullyott, Anna Ayckbourn and Alfie Husband took to the stage as the newly formed band ‘Zook Party’. They performed two of George’s original songs as well as a beautiful cover of ‘Flaws’ by Bombay Bicycle Club. They were a welcome addition to the Open mic and have been asked to support a local Whitby Band at La Rosa Hotel on Saturday 16th May.

Fyling Hall completed their performances with a solo saxophone piece, by Georg who played a seamless version of ‘Plaisir D’amour’.

The afternoon was attended by many locals as well as supportive staff.

There are tickets available for the La Rosa gig on May 16th and can be purchased from Musicport in town.
