After a rather exhausting end to the school year, a week in Spain was certainly a welcome holiday. The day after prize giving (and having cleared out the boarding houses), a group of our Year 11 students (and Ross) set off on their planned end of GCSE celebrations to enjoy the culture of Spain.

It was clear from getting off the plane at 8 o’clock in the evening that it was certainly going to be a rather warm holiday – averaging temperatures of 34°C during the day, dropping to 28°C on an evening. The hotel pool was definitely well used and swimming in the sea was certainly no dip in the North Sea! The week was a mixture of relaxation, sightseeing and enjoying the local attractions. Staying in La Pineda, we visited Tarragona on market day, the beautiful port of Cambrills and some of us ventured on the bus to spend the day in Barcelona. The local water park Aquopolis was a lot of fun, as was the theme park PortAventura – a lot of embarrassing ride photos hopefully never to be seen! There was a lot of heart racing and bravery in going on some of the huge rides – especially being guilted into going on the really big drop by our lovely students!

After an exhausting but fun week, scarred with the memories of Mr Edge in his fluorescent pink shorts and sandals, it was sad to say goodbye to some who are moving onto other ventures next year, but will no doubt stay a part of the Fyling Hall family – it was certainly a great way to end the year.
