HOW OUR PROGRAMME IS STRUCTURED

Our core curriculum will be focused on developing language skills, but students can also choose pathways with an emphasis on a range of specialist topics/sports:

A TYPICAL SUMMER SCHOOL DAY

On a typical day, after a delicious, healthy breakfast we spend the morning learning or practicing our high-level English speaking in formal lessons. We then enjoy a relaxing lunch before an afternoon programme of activities:

  • Sports/fun team games together (like Capture the Flag; Hunted or Bake-Off Challenge)
  • Exploring the region on trips to locations such as Alnwick Castle (the home of Harry Potter); or Hadrian’s Wall (a World Heritage Site)
  • Having fun at an aquapark or Go Ape; or learning to surf at the beach
  • Visiting local universities for masterclasses

During the evening there will also be the opportunity to participate in organised activities or time just to relax with new friends

WHAT’S INCLUDED AND WHAT WILL STUDENTS ACHIEVE:

  • Two weeks of full board residential on-campus accommodation with the option of adding additional weeks
  • 20 hours of accredited English tuition with certificate
  • Two full day and two half day fun trips

“The best summer holiday fun I’ve ever had, we did so much, I’ll need a rest before going back to school!”

What Students need to bring

Summer school dress for students is informal and because we arrange lots of activities, students will need comfortable wear like t-shirts, sweat shirts, shorts/skirts, jeans, tracksuits and trainers; and sportswear/swimwear, including a towel. Remember the UK climate is unpredictable. It can be beautifully sunny, but it can also be unexpectedly wet and cold (an umbrella perhaps?).

  • You’ll also want a smart outfit for the Graduation Prom
  • It’s smart to label all your stuff
  • Passport and travel documents
  • Spending money for shopping and treats
  • Laptop / tablet – plus charger
  • Mobile phone and charger (plus a travel adaptor for UK sockets)
  • Map and directions on how to get to us
