“On Thursday the 18th of September, a mixed group of 26 pupils from Year 10 and above, embarked on a trip to the York Theatre Royal to see the highly reviewed play based on George Orwell’s “1984”.
The play itself was a very clever interpretation of the book. As one of several students who had not read the book, I didn’t know what to expect. Blinding lights, deafening sound effects, a large TV screen and superb scene changes made this play a very exciting experience.
The conversation on the mini buses on the way home was animated, with student talking through all of the visual spectacles that they saw and trying to work out all of the details of the complicated plot. Many students are now determined to read the original novel.
All in all it was a great play enjoyed by a great company.”
