Yesterday, on a glorious sunny Sunday afternoon, some of our younger students travelled to the River Esk at Ruswarp, to try their hands at stand up paddling.
With the sounds of steam engines chugging up and down in the background, the students listened carefully to the instructions given by Sam, the expert from Whitby Surf School.
After ten minutes, they entered the water and were soon paddling upstream, mastering new techniques and trying not to fall in. Over an hour later they returned, all clearly confident on their boards, having enjoyed this exciting new sport.
It was then time for jumping off and swimming in the river, followed by ice creams.
A good time was had by all!
