Rose Garden Music Festival 2024
The Rose Garden Music Festival is always a highlight in the summer term calendar at our school, and this year was no exception. Despite the unpredictable British weather turning our usual venue into a muddy quagmire, we managed to make the event a success by repurposing our school’s stack yard. Adorned with homemade bunting and a grand marquee, it provided the perfect setting for a day filled with music, community, and charity.
We were thrilled to open our gates to the local community and welcome three fantastic local bands, all of whom were warmly received. The event was not just a musical triumph but also a charitable success, raising an impressive £2,337 for Ovarian Cancer Action.
Fyling Hall’s Music Festival gets off to a Lively Start!
The festival atmosphere was lively and joyous, with the sun making a much-anticipated appearance after weeks of heavy rain. Attendees enjoyed a BBQ, picnics, a variety of drinks and food, games for the children, face painting, and the excitement of a raffle and tombola, all while the bands played on.
The musical line-up began with the fabulous Rough Cuts, who delivered a dynamic performance blending Funk, Soul, and Folk. They were followed by Back in the Habit, a local function band featuring three of Fyling Hall’s own music teachers and our school choir. The day culminated with a headline performance from Project 13, who entertained the crowd with Ska versions of well-known hits.
This Year’s Charity – Ovarian Cancer Action
In addition to the music, we were fortunate to have several incredible prizes donated for our raffle, including a signed Arsenal WFC shirt, football boots autographed by England and Arsenal forward Alessia Russo, and various other exciting items such as hair straighteners, food hampers, and vouchers. Notably, Charlie from Year 5 won the signed football shirt, and Kelly Scott from Back in the Habit took home the signed boots.
This year’s festival was dedicated to raising funds for Ovarian Cancer Action, the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity, which works tirelessly to improve survival rates through research focusing on prevention, early detection, and treatment. Their vision is to transform outcomes for women affected by ovarian cancer.
