Just over a week to go! The Rose Garden Music Festival returns on July 1st. The line-up is complete and we’re looking forward to a fantastic, eclectic afternoon of music and more in Fyling Hall’s beautiful rose garden. We’re delighted to bring you;
- Sweet Beans with their ‘riot jazz’- big-band horns, jazzy harmonies, rocking electric guitar and rhythms rooted in techno and other dance music styles,
- The Whitby Contingent – locally based Jazz Quartet, formed purely for the love of playing jazz,
- Project 13 – the 7-piece ska/punk/rock group who will be performing versions of all your favourite songs, to get you up dancing and singing along.
Current student Theo, will be performing as part of Project 13. You’ll be able to catch past pupils Beau Taylor and Maeve Sutterby performing with the Whitby Contingent. And Henry Atkinson is performing with Sweet Beans.
Supporting the three bands will be Oscar, from year 10 providing a DJ set as people arrive, and Emilie (with her dad /brother) performing between sets. All acts have a link with Fyling Hall as we celebrate the centenary in 2023. What better way to spend a summer afternoon than great music, dancing, food and drink, happy faces and hopefully sunshine?
What Else?
The popular BBQ returns along with cake, tea, coffee, squash etc. and of course face-painting! You are welcome to bring a picnic too.
This year the Rose Garden Music Festival is raising funds for youth mental health charity Young Minds. This organisation aims to stop young people’s mental health reaching crisis point by giving them access to services and people that can really help.
Not got your tickets yet? Don’t worry there is still time. They can be purchased from the Fyling Hall office (cash only please) at £10 for adults (£12 on the door) and £5 for children over 5.
You may have noticed that our poster and ticket designs this year are courtesy of Fyling Hall pupils. Congratulations, to Megan Fusco in year 7 for winning the competition for the poster design and to Isabelle Wagner in year 9 and George Arnold in year 8 for the ticket designs.
Thanks in advance to everyone who is supporting this event. To all the performers, Storm Scaffolding for the Stage, Leanne Coates and Ailsa Campbell for providing the cakes, Olivia Coates for providing the face painting, and all the parents, staff and students who are involved in making this happen.
See you on Saturday 1st!
