Despite many music exams still being recorded and marked digitally, it’s great to see Rockschool (RSL) leading the way once again with face-to-face appointments. Our very own super-confident Gracie jumped at the chance to do a real, live performance, and took her Grade 5 Singing exam in July at the Forum Music Centre in Darlington. RSL examiner Graham Sykes was absolutely blown away by Gracie, stating that her “vocal tone was superb throughout” and that she produced “an excellent overall exam with stylistic sounds and fluent techniques”.
Gracie was duly awarded a Distinction, and as a result of her high mark (90%) she has been invited to send in a video of some of her songs to be featured in the 2021 RSL Virtual Festival, which takes place this year between 17th – 19th August. Miss Stewart is absolutely delighted with Gracie’s result. She is particularly pleased with her progress on the ‘passagio’ area of her voice – specifically her headvoice flips – all of which can be seen and heard by tuning in via the RSL Facebook and Instagram pages from Tuesday 17th August.
You can listen to two of Gracie’s songs, ‘Stay’ and ‘All I want’ here.
