On Thursday 16th October every pupil in the Senior School took part in Restart a Heart Day, a European wide event aiming to raise awareness and understanding of heart attacks and CPR.
In preparation for the day, PSHE lessons were used to teach pupils about what causes a heart attack and what to do if you suspect someone’s heart has stopped.
We were joined, on Thursday, by local paramedic Mr Wright and his wife, who is a community first responder. They talked pupils through the process of CPR with both chest compressions and mouth to mouth. Then it was the turn of our pupils, who impressed Mr and Mrs Wright with their focus and willingness to have a go.
The workshop was brought to life with mannequins donated by the British Heart Foundation, this made the workshop a hands on experience pupils will never forget.
