On Saturday the 11th of November Fyling Hall School went to the service of Remembrance, at St Stephen’s church in Fylingthorpe. There we sung hymns and the national anthem, and at eleven o’clock we gathered outside in front of the war memorial. To pay our respects, the names of fallen heroes from Robin Hoods Bay and the surrounding area were read out. For the two minute silence the last post was played by Charlie Kay, year 9.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
During our week of Remembrance, on Wednesday 14th November class 8Pm lead the assembly on the history and significance of the day. During this special assembly Charlie Kay once again played the last post and all of the school took part in two minutes silence. All of the school would like to say thank you to 8Pm, for dedicating their assembly to the service of Remembrance.
