Congratulations to Michal Kuleta, Jim Chen, Jo Sykes and Mateusz Kotowski on reaching a podium position in the Senior Team Maths Challenge. The quartet were chosen to represent Fyling Hall in an inter school maths competition for Students in Year 11 to Year 13. Michal was the sole survivor from last year’s team which finished in third place and he returned to the fray looking for an improved position. We made the journey to Teesside University and arrived at lunchtime ready to enjoy the lasagne laid on for us. Then followed the group round (problem solving), Crossnumber (a numerical version of the crossword) and then the relay round (passing answers between the team to gain the final answer). Our crack mathematicians did a fantastic job and managed another third place beating the local sixth form in Whitby along with almost twenty other teams. Look out for further inter-school maths competitions later this year!
