Fyling Hall Junior School pupils have been making readers think. Taking part in Whitby Rotary Club’s annual Young Writers Competition, children were asked to create their own piece of writing about My Town, My Future.
The Club advised that “Children could enter a fictional or non-fiction story in any genre – journalism, essays, short stories, poems, or other prose are all welcome. The ideas could be realistic or as fantastic as they wish. Even science fiction or horror. They should just be as creative as they want – and make the readers THINK about their ideas!”
Our entering pupils did exceptionally well! A huge well done to Lara who won the age 7-10 category, Megan who came 2nd and Matilda for 3rd place, Izzy was also awarded highly commended. Skye also did very well and came 3rd in the 11 – 13 category. I am so proud of the children that entered, they worked extremely hard and it is nice to see their superb creative writing being recognised and rewarded by Whitby Rotary Club
