On Thursday the 18th of June, the Fyling Hall Junior School came together at the Whitby Leisure Centre for our annual swimming gala. Students from Year 1 right through to Year 6 competed in a multitude of swimming events tailored to their abilities, in front of a boisterous crowd.

Standout performers for the day were Olivia Coates, Jake Lee and Anya Legg. Olivia won every race in which she competed, however was pushed to the finish line by Jake every time often coming down to a fingernail.

Anya was far from out of her depth even though she was by far the youngest to be competing in the big pool against older pupils. It was really great to see so many parents turn up to watch and cheer on their fabulous children competing for their houses.

A huge thanks needs to go to the finish line officials; Pippa Jones, Miss Anders and Justin Mayne, starter Marcus ‘Phelps’ Coates, Billie-Jade Farmer and Miss Edwards for running the junior pool and finally to points officials Karen Richardson, Amanda Freer, and Rosie Havelock . A huge congratulations must go to Resolution House, winners on the day, just edging out Endeavour.
