Years 7, 8 and 9 have been working with green screens this term in their projects that relate to famous female scientists and discoveries.
Mr Instone gave Miss Rowland a list of scientists and discoveries and Miss Rowland has led her groups in creating pieces of drama that explore women in science who have made significant pioneering discoveries that continue to shape our world today. The pupils have been learning that because of the their gender, these women have been largely ignored by the world.
Pupils have filmed their pieces in front of the green screen and inserted the relevant historical backgrounds into the scene whilst editing. The films will be shown during our end of year Science Enrichment Week.
As well as gaining drama skills and knowledge about scientific discovery, the aim is also to draw our pupils’ attention to the fact that it is possible for women to be at the cutting edge of scientific discovery. Hopefully our girls will be inspired!
