🎶 Gig in a Day: A Rocking Success! 🎶
By Mrs. Swain, Head of Music
On Wednesday, 6th December, our Year 10 and 11 music students had a unique and inspiring day! We were thrilled to welcome Chris from The Band Project to our school for a Gig in a Day workshop.
A quick sound check and they were ready!
Each group had just one hour with Chris during their regular music lessons, but the results were nothing short of spectacular. Year 10 put their spin on Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, while Year 11 took on Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People. After just an hour of practice and a quick sound check, both groups performed live that evening!
I couldn’t be prouder of our students—their hard work and talent shone through, impressing family, friends, and teachers alike. The atmosphere was electric, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
Student Voices
🎵 Year 10: “It was stressful with so little time, but so much fun! Izzy and Gabbie nailed their performance!”
🎵 Year 11: “Our ensemble skills improved, and it felt amazing to play a whole song in just an hour!”
🎵 Year 10: “Creating our own version of a song was exciting. My parents were so impressed!”
A huge thank you to Chris from The Band Project for an unforgettable day.
Stay tuned – we hope to launch a Band Project club soon, so younger students can also join in on the fun!
