Congratulations to all our pupils who achieved such excellent GCSE results this week.
Nearly three quarters of the GCSEs taken at the school were passed at A* to C grades, and 30% of them at A* or A. Dr Ian Richardson, the Deputy Head, said “boys and girls worked incredibly hard this year, supported by very dedicated teachers, and they achieved some excellent results. We’re delighted, of course, when someone gets straight As, but we are a non-selective school, and there are also students for whom a handful of C and D grades is a huge achievement, and we are equally proud of them.”
Successes include Richard Corner, Charlotte McAdam, Francesca Rathmell and George Reeves, who between them achieved nine A*s, twenty-four As and four Bs.
Paul Griffin, the Headmaster, said, “I’m always especially impressed that students who have come from around the world to experience the British education system achieve great results despite working in their second language.” Julian Santiago from Andalucia in Spain achieved eleven GCSEs, including an A* and seven As, and Hanna Haggeman from the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany got nine GCSEs, including an A and an A*.
