Ex Fyling Hall pupil, Racheal Bamford, achieved a personal best in the 3000m steeplechase final at the Commonwealth Games last night.
The Otley AC athlete’s previous personal best was 9min 54.57sec but during the Commonwealth final, she crossed the line in 7th place with an incredible time of 9min 45.51.
Unsurprisingly, Racheal still holds the record for senior girls cross country, despite the fact that she left us to study at Leeds University in 2007.
Last year Racheal won the Esholt John Carr 5K in 16min 50sec and was the tenth female in the Abbey Dash 10K at Leeds in 34:46.
Racheal’s athletic talent was always evident while she studied here at Fyling Hall and we are all very proud of her achievements. Well done Racheal!
