On a crisp autumn morning a team of runners set off from Fyling Hall to represent the school in the English Fell Running Championships. The team comprised of: Joe Husband, Reece Glossop, Nicolas Hermann, Garret Jacobi, Arthur Green, Oliver Sykes and our sole female representative Anna Sweeney.

After a 2 hour journey, they eventually arrived at their destination, Mytholmroyd, and the challenge that awaited them suddenly became all too real. Laid out in front of them was a challenging course, that took them up hills, across the fells and then finally down a steep slope towards the finish.

Over what was a hard, fast course, the runners, all of who were new to the sport, acquitted themselves admirably. The star performer was Anna who achieved 11th place in her race, where she competed with the best runners from the North of England.

On returning to school, they all decided on showers and an early night!

Well done to all of our runners, who are now looking forward to their next competition.
