Fyling Hall Students celebrated their GCSE results today, with many achieving top grades.

67% achieved five or more A* to C grades and 63% of year 11s achieved five A* to C grades that included English and Maths.

Mr Allen said: “We are delighted with these results. We are a non-selective school yet thanks to our small classes and the individual way in which we are able to tailor the curriculum, we are able to guide our students towards achieving grades that often exceed their own expectations. I congratulate all of the students on their achievements.”

Niamh Sweeney achieved two A* grades as well as four As and three Bs. Arthur Green, who achieved 2 As, 6 Bs and 1 C, said: “I am very pleased with my results. Pretty overwhelmed actually: my grades are so much better than I hoped for.” Izzy Austin was very excited to find out about her 2 As, 5 Bs and 2Cs. “I am so pleased. I can’t wait to come back next year!”

Fyling Hall’s successful students also include a small cohort of international year 11s who undertake examinations with English as their second language. Michael Wolf arrived at Fyling Hall from Germany only a year ago and he believes that in part it was thanks to the “welcoming and friendly atmosphere” of the school as well as his own hard work, that helped him to achieve an impressive 1A*, 3A grades and 1B grade in his GCSEs.

Mr Allen added that “these results open up many further opportunities for our students’ further education and adult lives. We wish them all the best for the future.”Arthur and Izzie
