Fyling Hall is very proud to announce that two of its former 6th form pupils have been offered coveted places at Oxford University, starting in September 2015.
Michael McCormack left last year to embark on a foundation course in Fine Art at the Art Academy in London, with a view to applying to Oxford University this year.
Mateusz Kotowski, also left us last summer with a scholarship to study Natural Sciences at UCL.
Both pupils clearly impressed with their incredible A Level results (Michael achieved 1 A* and 3 As and Matty achieved 5 A*s) and impressive applications as they were invited for interview in December 2014. After a 3 day interview, Oxford University clearly recognised the value of our boys and in January this year, they both received the news that they had been offered a place.
Michael accepted the offer and will be studying Fine Art (which encompasses Art, Art History and Art Theory) at St. Edmund’s Hall. Michael has been schooled at Fyling Hall since he was 4 and has always impressed with his hard work, charm and dedication, so much so that he rose to become our head boy last year.
Matty, who arrived to study with us in Year 12 from Poland, was always a hard-working and likeable student and his progress with us was rapid. Matty is yet to accept the offer from Oxford, as he has enjoyed his time at USL so much. Quite a privileged position to be in!
“Both Michael and Matty thoroughly deserve this success. I know that I speak for all of their teachers when I say that they were a pleasure to know and teach. They are a credit to our school and embody all that we promote at Fyling Hall: hard work, dedication and success. I am very proud of them both. Well done.” (Steven Allen, Headmaster)
