Fyling Hall Facts: The Bow and Arrow Story
🏹 Have you noticed Fyling Hall’s distinctive logo featuring a bow and arrow? More than just a striking design, it proudly reflects our roots and the legendary figure tied to the name of our village, Robin Hood’s Bay.
A Legacy in Our Logo
Nestled in the picturesque coastal village of Robin Hood’s Bay, Fyling Hall School is surrounded by history and folklore. The bow and arrow in our logo pay tribute to the legendary Robin Hood, whose tales of skill, bravery, and justice have captivated imaginations for centuries.
Our Village: Robin Hood’s Bay
Robin Hood’s Bay is a place of dramatic natural beauty, where rugged cliffs meet the expansive North Sea. Its cobbled streets and historic cottages give it a timeless charm that draws visitors from across the world.
The origins of the village’s name, however, lie in legend. According to folklore, Robin Hood once came to the aid of the villagers, defending them from French pirates who were raiding the Yorkshire coast. The story tells of Robin Hood’s victory over the pirates and how he returned their stolen goods to the villagers, forever linking his name to the bay.
Though there’s no historical evidence to confirm the tale, the myth endures, adding a sense of adventure and intrigue to this enchanting corner of Yorkshire.
Why the Bow and Arrow?
The bow and arrow in Fyling Hall’s logo reflect more than just the legend of Robin Hood. They symbolise precision, focus, and determination—qualities that we value and nurture in our students.
