On Thursday, Forms 1 and 2 had a brilliant morning with the fire fighters from Whitby’s Blue Watch. The visit was a part of this term’s PSHE topic – “People Who Help Us”.
Even before we got to the Fire Station some of the pupils were making enthusiastic “Nenaw nenaw” noises! Mrs Freer and Miss Edwards tried on full firefighting equipment and could barely move, much to the amusement of their pupils!
The children were able to sit in the fire engine and watch a very impressive rescue from the tower, complete with smoke. The fire fighters gave the pupils advice about what to do in a fire and this was keenly re-enacted when we returned to school. The pupils were still talking about it the next day.
Many, many thanks to Richard Merifield and Whitby Blue Watch.
