Just a few days to go and the Rose Garden Music Festival lineup is now complete . . . we are thrilled to announce Back in the Habit as the fourth act in our lineup.    What better act to close the Festival?

Back in the Habit are a 9-piece function band bound to get you on your feet and dancing. The band got together originally when they were asked to provide the backing for Whitby Area Musical Theatre Company production of Sister Act. They enjoyed playing together so much that they decided to meet regularly to just play together and so Back in The Habit was formed.

At the time Mrs Wormald was the lead singer and the band included many of the staff she worked with at Fyling Hall, Cathy Hornung (French and ex-music teacher), Paul Whittaker ( guitar tutor), Simon Williams (lighting and sound troubleshooter for school), Bob Butterfield (woodwind tutor), Jonathan Jeeves (husband of Lizzie Jeeves and father of Lex Yr 7) and Steve Cooper (helps us out with awesome percussion workshops). They were joined by fantastic musicians Gerry Glasby and Ian Hopley and sound team Sam Thoroughgood (ex-pupil), Ailsa Legg (Head Girl) and more recently, Tom Cornforth.

When Mrs Wormald left for Dubai and Miss Johnson took over the Music Department, Miss Johnson was a clear choice to take over as lead vocalist for the band. We perform regularly around the area, for weddings, functions, parties and charity events.

With the lineup complete, the afternoon will run as follows:

Cakes, tea and coffee will be served on the day.  Picnics and blankets are welcome and indeed, expected.

As you know, all proceeds are donated to Candlelighters.  Every year approximately 150 children are diagnosed with cancer in Yorkshire alone. Candlelighters offer support to the entire family, affected by childhood cancer, and our support lasts a lifetime.  If you are so inclined you are invited to #PinkitUp.  In an effort to raise awareness Candlelighters is asking supporters across Yorkshire to dress, eat, drink Pink.  Let’s see how much of a rose tint we can add!
