The annual Eskdale Festival of the Arts commenced yesterday.  It is a great opportunity to be involved in a community event which provides a safe and constructive performance platform.  After weeks of preparation, today was the first day of Fyling Hall performances.

Our Junior School pupils took part in various categories including Duologues and Poetry Competition . . . to name but two.  Mrs Freer could not be more proud!

Senior school pupils also took part, performing monologues which they will also use for their drama exams this month.  Susan Mackay, the adjudicator, was impressed with the hard work that the students had put in and enjoyed the range of scripts chosen. She also gave us some excellent feedback to help the students improve their performances.

In the year 11 and under class, Anisia Fedotova won performing Adam from DNA by Dennis Kelly. Taking some difficult extracts from 4.48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane,  Hee Joo Jin came 2nd and Lily May Newman came in 3rd place.

In the senior class, Maria Matschke performed Kindertransport by Diane Samuels, winning her class with a mark of 87. Silas Venus-Haslett and Megan Emblin came in 3rd place with 85 marks.

Mrs Jeeves is incredibly proud of all the performers and can’t wait to see them in their exams soon!
