This week, as part of the number topics, the year 9’s have been practising manipulating decimals to solve problems. As part of this, they designed and created games that could be played, each involving answering decimal questions that were written and answers checked by them.
They came up with many different ideas including a board game, decimal tiles involving matching and memory, and a pair’s card game. The students played each others’ games and voted on the best design. The winners were Amy El-Barghouty and Charlotte Harris with their blocks game. They combined answering questions and selecting Jenga blocks. It was good fun and students forgot they were actually answering maths questions!
