As part of their study of Ancient Egypt, the pupils in Form 2 and 3 have been investigating hieroglyphs. With the assistance of Dr Gaffney, who kindly gave them access to the school coal bunker, the children collected buckets of soot, which they mixed with water to make black paint. This they used to inscribe their hieroglyphs, in authentic Ancient Egyptian style. Ruby Wormald was so enthused that she went home and wrote a secret message for every pupil in KS2 – and received coded replies!
