Conversations about race and identity

This week’s all school assembly introduced future conversations about race and identity. It set the scene for our Black History Month initiatives. Watching safely in their own tutor rooms, Mr Instone, Head of Enrichment, led our first live broadcast assembly. The theme : Tolerance, Intolerance and Prejudice. This introduction was intended to explain the complex issues around the themes to all years, following the government guidelines that we follow in Learning for Life and wider school policies.

Following the presentation, pupils had, and will continue to have, the opportunity to discuss any questions on this presentation. Our intention is to continue a conversation around the theme both with pupils and afterwards in a future staff training.

Watch this space on further initiatives over Black History Month as we continue our conversations about race and identity.
