Last week we were able to welcome two temporary guests to the stables; Lily and Zeb. They had just finished the ‘Coast to Coast’ ride with their owners.
The Coast to Coast ride is 192 miles long. Vicky, Joy and Clare set off at 8am on Sunday 28th April and finished at 5.30pm on Thursday 2nd May. That is an average of about 48 miles a day. Vicky rode all the way; Joy ran and rode, but Clare ran the whole way. The ladies are from Saffron Waldon Riding Club and they sent a message through the riding club network to see if anyone in area 4 was able to do B&B for the horses. As I am a member of Malton Riding Club I picked up the message and was able to offer them assistance. It was lovely to be able to feel that we could partly repay the kindness that was shown to us when we did our trek from school to Penrith a few years ago.
The ride was sponsored and two organisations, M S UK and Saffron Riding for the Disabled, will benefit from the money raised. The ladies would like to express their thanks to all who helped them in any way along the route and especially Glen, Kate and Clare, their support crew.
