On the last weekend of the academic year, Fyling Hall celebrated its 100th birthday in style. When we first started talking about our centenary, we knew we couldn’t properly commemorate the event without inviting all of our alumni back to celebrate with us- and so that’s exactly what we did!
On Saturday 8th July, around 300 ex-pupils, as well as old teachers and current staff, descended on a freshly decorated Fyling Hall to reminisce, eat, and dance the night away. It looked for a while that the weather might stand in our way, but thankfully the skies cleared and we enjoyed a wonderful evening both indoors and out in our wonderful grounds!
Guests were treated to musical performances from Eliza and Martin Carthy, who performed a wonderful set of music, as well as local band Back in the Habit, who got nearly everyone up and dancing. The PTA ran the bar and managed to raise an excellent amount of money (exact figure to be announced soon!). It was a truly fabulous evening, and a real celebration of what Fyling Hall is all about. We cannot thank everyone enough for coming to celebrate with us!

Photos from the event will be available to order very soon- keep an eye out for them! If you would like to be notified via email when photos are available, please email centenary@fylinghall.org.
The event wouldn’t have been possible without the help of some very dedicated people, so a special thanks to the following: David Cable, Coleen McQue, Mike Beaumont, Cathy Hornung, Adele Gilmour, Emma-Louise Anders, Ian Richardson, Luke Herholdt, Justin Mayne, Marcus and Leanne Coates, and Simon Parker.
Special thanks to Rosie Havelock for organising the event and to Ann Louise Roswald and her fellow PTA members for running the bar. Thanks also to Eliza and Martin Carthy, Back in the Habit, Ben Laws Outdoor Catering, Marcus and Leanne Coates at Laughing Whale Embroidery, Yorkshire Yurts, and Richard Saltmarsh Photography.
Watch this space for more centenary announcements as we continue to celebrate 100 years of Fyling Hall.
