On Tuesday 7th October, a large group of Year 10s and some 6th form attended a “Careers In Focus” fair at Harrogate. The idea of the event is to give pupils an opportunity to find out information about a range of career areas and further education colleges. A large hall and outside area was set up with over 50 stalls: some included interactive activities but all were manned by enthusiastic and helpful staff. The careers that were in focus included: outdoor education, butchers, auctioneers, vets, woodcraft, various university departments, the Army and much more. The students were happily engaged for the 2 hours that we spent there, and many came away with information and ideas about their possible future careers.
