On Sunday 8th September, Dr Richardson and Mrs Park took a group of KS2 and KS3 pupils to The River Esk for a sunny morning of canoeing. The expedition was organised and led by a representative from East Barnby Outdoor Education Centre who taught basic canoeing skills through fun games and activities. A firm favourite with the children included “Squidditch”, a game that required the children to throw soggy rubber toys (one in the shape of a squid!) into each others’ canoes. Despite the broad age range of the children (the youngest was aged 5 and the eldest 12), the Fyling Hall children all worked and played together with genuine ease and enthusiasm throughout the day.
