The 2nd of July marked an exciting day for Year 10 with the Apprentice Challenge kicking off with an inspiring assembly. Our very own Mr Cable shared captivating tales from his career in the armed forces and later the armed police force, delving into the consequences of our actions and their impact on life outcomes. This set the stage for the independent Apprentice Challenge ahead.
Once settled into their groups, students were given a design brief to create a healthy, on-the-go snack for children, sourced sustainably. Each group appointed a project manager, assigned roles, and backed up their ideas with thorough research.
Group 1: Create Orchard Bars
Ivan, the project manager, kept his team motivated with help from teammates like Daisy. Their market research was outstanding, and their clever use of teachers in their advert aimed at parents was truly inspired.
Group 2: Monster Crunch
Abbie led this team with a keen eye for her teammates’ strengths, ensuring tasks were assigned efficiently and everyone was involved. Their product design was impressive, with creative mascots and physical packaging. The advert showcased the team’s spirit and was delightful to watch.
Group 3: Nelly’s Nibbles
Josie led this team with a calm and productive approach. During their presentation, Josie adeptly answered questions and sought input from her team, demonstrating excellent leadership. Their advert was creative and well-edited, and their sustainability research was exemplary.
Teamwork and Leadership
All the groups thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, showcasing skills like leadership, teamwork, resilience, communication, and self-motivation. Staff observing the groups praised their positive attitudes and determination to succeed.
